Conversations and Prayers:

I talk to God in hopes I can get closer to you; knowing I can never know you like the earth knows you

Praying to the devil to whisper secrets about you, grasping at straws to drink in any detail of your life

Aching for something I’m never a part of

Stitching up old wounds with just a thread of your smile

Tasting honey every time your lips move, or I hear an echo of your laugh

Stolen glimpses and side eyes to take a picture of holiness that God devoured

My brain becomes an Etch-a-Sketch or TV static whenever you’re near

Chasing fading memories like school kids chasing dreams

You’re a breath away but miles of landscape rests between us
