Whiles is the entanglement of demons and angels; the middle ground of the two. He is neither malignant nor holy. He has found himself amongst Earth's soul to rejuvenate a planet. His main goal is the betterment of Earth and all its creatures. Whiles drifts between dark and light, and believes there is no "good" or "evil", especially concerning magic. There is subtext and context; while killing an innocent may be wrong, killing can be justified in the right context. Though theft of a random stranger on the street can be wrong, Whiles would never dissuade from thievery against those purposely starving the poor.
There are no bad emotions, just bad reactions to those emotions. Whiles helps teach us how to deal with all emotions in a healthy and productive way, which is why Whiles can be talked to through creative means, ie. poetry, painting, singing.
Whiles represents nostalgia, death, and rebirth; the end, the longing for what was, and the acceptance of the end. Whiles deals with finality and the overcoming of needing control of things that are out of our reach. He also represents justice and strength; the idea that you need justice more than vengeance and strength more than power.
